GA4 setup, conversion tracking and technical SEO you can trust
I set up GA4, Google Tag Manager and conversion tracking so your ad accounts report leads and revenue, not clicks. I also run technical SEO audits that find what's stopping Google from crawling, indexing and ranking your site. Wollongong-based, working across the Illawarra and Australia. Fixed prices, plain-English findings.
Your reports are guessing. So are your ad platforms.
Most tracking I look at was set up once, by someone who has since moved on, and has been quietly wrong ever since.
GA4 counts every thank-you page refresh as a lead. Google Ads bids for phone number clicks. The website has been redesigned twice and nobody moved the tags. Search Console is emailing warnings to an inbox nobody reads. Every budget decision made on that data is a guess with a dashboard on top.
- Conversions in Google Ads that don't match enquiries in the CRM. Not even close.
- GA4 still on the default 2-month data retention, so year-on-year detail is gone.
- Your own staff and the payment gateway showing up as traffic sources.
- Tags hard-coded into the theme, so every change needs a developer.
- Pages Google has crawled but chosen not to index, and nobody knows why.
- Slow mobile pages failing Core Web Vitals.
- A Google Business Profile with the wrong category and old opening hours.
Tracking and technical SEO, done properly
Two jobs that are really one: make sure Google can find and understand your site, then make sure you can measure what people do once they arrive.
GA4 setup and repair
Data streams, key events (what GA4 now calls conversions), internal traffic filters, unwanted referrals, cross-domain tracking and 14-month retention. Reports that show enquiries, rather than a pile of sessions.
Google Tag Manager
Tag Manager consulting that ends the tag soup. Every tag in one container, with clear names, readable triggers and version history. Marketing can add a pixel without a developer, and nothing gets hard-coded into the theme again.
Ads conversion tracking
Google Ads and Microsoft Ads conversions for forms, calls and bookings, with Meta and LinkedIn tags set up through Tag Manager. Every platform counts the same real enquiries.
Offline conversions from the CRM
Qualified leads and won deals in HubSpot sent back to the ad platforms, so bidding chases customers instead of form fills. The step most setups skip.
Crawl audits
Screaming Frog crawls for broken links, redirect chains, duplicate titles, thin and orphan pages, canonical mistakes and indexing problems, checked against Search Console.
Core Web Vitals and speed
LCP, INP and CLS measured on real templates, with fixes ranked: image sizes, caching, Cloudflare settings, plugin bloat and render-blocking scripts.
Schema, sitemaps, robots.txt, llms.txt
Structured data for your business, services, FAQs and articles. Clean XML sitemaps. A robots.txt that decides which search and AI crawlers get in, and an llms.txt pointing AI tools at what matters.
Local SEO and Google Business Profile
Categories, services, service areas, photos and review habits sorted, plus location pages that are useful rather than copy-paste. A big deal for Illawarra businesses chasing "near me" searches.
SEO automation
Scripted crawls, keyword clustering, content briefs and reporting with Python and AI tools, so the routine checks happen every month without anyone remembering to do them.

How a tracking fix runs
Access
You give me access to GA4, Tag Manager, Search Console, the ad accounts, the website and the CRM. Everything stays in accounts you own.
Audit
I check what's firing, what's double counting and what's missing, and crawl the site while I'm there.
Build
Tags, key events, conversions and CRM capture set up in a Tag Manager workspace, previewed, then published.
Prove it
Test enquiries through every form and call button, checked in GA4, each ad platform and HubSpot. You get the test log.
What bad tracking and technical SEO actually cost
Illustrative scenarios, not client results. Plug in your own numbers.
The double-counted lead
Example: a contact form fires a conversion on submit and again on the thank-you page. Google Ads shows 60 conversions a month from 30 real enquiries. Cost per lead looks half what it is, so budget goes up on a campaign that's barely breaking even.
The redesign that broke everything
Example: a new website launches, the old tags go with the old theme, and nobody notices for six weeks. The ad account bids blind the whole time. A Tag Manager container that survives redesigns, plus a launch checklist, stops it happening again.
The pages Google ignored
Example: the sitemap lists 400 URLs, Search Console shows 180 indexed. Tag archives, filtered pages and an old staging copy are eating the crawl. Clean the sitemap, fix canonicals and noindex the junk, and Google spends its time on pages that earn money.
The local business missing from maps
Example: a Wollongong trades business with the wrong primary category on its Google Business Profile and no service areas. Fixing the profile and writing real suburb pages is often the cheapest SEO win on the table.
SEO and tracking from the systems side
I'm an SEO consultant in Wollongong who comes at it from the systems side. Most SEO people stop at the website. Most developers stop at the code. The money is in the gap between the search result and the CRM record, and that's where I work.
I work hands-on in GA4, Tag Manager, Search Console, Google Ads, Screaming Frog, WordPress, WP Engine, Cloudflare and HubSpot, so I can follow a lead from the first click to the closed deal and see exactly where the chain breaks. I'm based in Wollongong and work with businesses across Wollongong · Shellharbour · Kiama · Nowra and the Shoalhaven · Southern Highlands, and remotely Australia-wide.
Good fit
- Businesses spending on Google or Microsoft Ads who can't match conversions to real enquiries
- Sites that have been redesigned or migrated and lost rankings or tracking
- HubSpot users who want ad platforms bidding on real leads
- Illawarra businesses that need to show up locally
Not a fit
- You want guaranteed rankings by a date. Nobody can honestly promise that
- You want link building or bulk content writing
- You won't give access to the accounts involved
GA4, tracking and technical SEO FAQs
How much does GA4 setup cost?
GA4 and conversion tracking setup is $1,950 fixed. That covers Tag Manager, key events, ads conversion tracking, source capture into HubSpot and a full test log. If your site has unusual forms or several domains, I'll flag anything outside the fixed scope before we start.
What's the difference between GA4 and Google Ads conversion tracking?
GA4 measures what people do on your site. Google Ads conversion tracking tells the ad platform which clicks led to an enquiry, so it can bid better. You need both, counting the same things. That's where most setups go wrong.
What are offline conversions?
Things that happen after the click, out of the ad platform's sight: a lead qualifying, a quote going out, a deal being won. Sending those back from HubSpot teaches Google Ads which clicks produced customers rather than form fills. See marketing ops for the full loop.
What's in a technical SEO audit?
A full Screaming Frog crawl, Search Console review, indexing and redirect checks, site structure, Core Web Vitals, schema, sitemaps, robots.txt, llms.txt and a Google Business Profile check. You get a ranked fix list and a walkthrough. $2,950 fixed.
Do I need llms.txt and AI crawler rules?
llms.txt is a proposed format, not a standard, and there's no promise AI tools read it. It's cheap to add, so I usually do. The bigger call is robots.txt: which AI crawlers you let in. Blocking them may keep you out of AI answers. Allowing them means your content gets used. That's a business decision, and I'll lay out the trade-off.
Will you implement the SEO fixes?
If you want. On WordPress I can do most of them myself. Otherwise your developer works from the list, or ongoing work runs on a retainer from $3,500 a month. See web development for bigger site work.
Can you guarantee rankings?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. I can make sure Google can crawl, index and understand your site properly, and that you can measure what the traffic is worth.
